When I first decided to create the Ayezi Jewellery Balcone Collection, it wasn’t just about crafting beautiful silver jewellery; I wanted to create unique, handcrafted pieces, rings, pendants, and earrings and everything inspired by genuine Greek stories and authentic daily life in Athens. Not the picture-perfect city tourists see, but the lively, slightly chaotic, and genuinely charming city that locals cherish.
Starting this handcrafted jewellery brand was more than just business—it was deeply personal, transforming a dream into reality piece by piece.
The idea struck during an afternoon stroll around Athens. It wasn’t the polished buildings or tidy streets that inspired me—it was the vibrant energy, the blend of historic and modern, and those iconic Athenian balconies overflowing with plants, drying laundry, and glimpses of everyday life.
I thought, “What if custom jewellery could capture the true spirit of Athens?” And at that moment, The Balcone fine jewellery collection was born.
Here’s a funny story from the early days: One night, while sketching designs fueled by way too much coffee, I decided to take a quick break that turned into binge-watching my favorite Greek sitcom. Later, half-asleep, I mistakenly grabbed a marker instead of my pencil and ended up doodling silly cartoon characters all over my carefully drawn sketches. Instead of frustration, I laughed it off. Surprisingly, these playful doodles inspired fresh, creative ideas that became some of our most beloved handcrafted pieces. Creativity definitely has its humorous moments!
